RYLA 2012 (and ze outing on tuesday)

Hai pretty peoples. :3

Just got back from KL today, after another week there.

And RYLA (the camp Karen blackmailed invited me to) was AMAZINGLY…FUN. And if you read THIS post you can see how enthusiastic I was about the whole thing! :DDD *sarcasm alert*

Pity I can’t remember much of it though….eh…first…day…

*random Lulu pops up* I LELOUCH VI BRITANNIA ORDER YOU TO REMEMBER!

Alright, I shall try.

Reached One World hotel at around 9? My uncle dropped me off at the lobby’s entrance and I had to ask random porters where…I don’t know what I asked exactly. And they pretty much gave me the right directions, but apparently they assumed I was smart enough to take the escalator and go downstairs to the carpark-ey place and wait for the bus (to take us to the campsite). Nooo, being the blur hippo I was I walked to the end of the ballroom (whatever that huge place is called) and almost went into some scary, unlit toilet. So I decided to walk back and that’s when I saw the escalators. Tsk tsk.

Went down, searched frantically for Karen, texted her, finally found her, joyful reunion, etc. AND I finally saw Swathy again after like, a year. The last time I saw her was at Karen’s birthday. Ahh how I’ve missed her so. ❤

We got split up unfortunately, or rather, fortunately. I met these 3 awesome girls that were on the same bus I was and we talked the whole 2 hours. I also got a glimpse of the “new arrival”. ;)) (a glimpse of his hair, but a glimpse nonetheless)   I’ve had a change of heart. I do not enjoy that fish’s company anymore.

Poor Karen was stuck in the bus with Swathy and some guy with really bad BO. Hehehehehehehe. *slaps self for laughing*

By the time we got there (oh and I tripped and fell while I was getting off the bus) the first group was halfway through some…ehh, briefing, and all I know is that it had something to do with the huge tent and what it was for, and the box full of supplies and stuff (<– obviously wasn’t paying attention). And I also learnt the mosquitoes there damn hardworking wake up so early to find helpless victims. Crazy mozzies up at like 2 something. pfft.

First meal together!

First meal together!

DAY ONE.

After lunch and stoof we had ze opening ceremony, and a tea break. And then the ice breaking session, where your name tag is with someone else so you have to run around the room  like a headless chicken to look for it. And the name tag I had turned out to belong to an acquaintance of mine (met her during lunch), so I  ran around the room yelling, “FARELLAAAAARRRHHHHH!!!!”. After a few minutes of that I bumped into her. Quite literally.  Of ALL the names they could have chosen, they picked “MAK” to be printed on my name tag. So I had to deal with people coming up to me and going “Oi,  Mak!”. sigh. Eventually got used to it. Eventually.

Then we got sorted into groups and came up with a group slogan and made our flag. :’D

281227_529258747092246_1943742657_n

I AM MAK, YES.

GRR. FLERG.

GRR. FLAG.

Then there was supper. We had 6 meals a day. And that’s the end of day 1. I CAN’T REMEMBER MUCH OKAY.

DAY TWO.

There was a morning exercise every day at 7am. before breakfast. before anything. I was expecting boring yoga stretches and aerobics, instead I got sassy Facis (facilitators) teaching us Gangnam Style. That part was actually pretty fun.

Sessions for the rest of the day;I admit it, I fell asleep during most of them, and I can’t remember the order in which we had them….ehh…I THINK we had Mr Chong Keat Lim during the 10am session. He’s the Vice President of Youth Division at Leadernomics. He also has an “hangout place” called DropZone and he conducted this…experiment? where he told us to draw a bunch of stuff and then compare it and see if there were any identical ones and the point of this exercise is pretty darn obvious so if you don’t get it then you’re extremely thick  that we’re all different and unique individuals? I think. (and yes, I just copied that from the workbook) Oh and he also made us do another exercise where we had to take a sort of personality quiz to decide whether we were tsundere introverts and extroverts and all that. We extroverts are awesome, you should have joined us, dear little introverts~  they (the categories you fall into, because intro/extroverts are just too mainstream) had some really funky names and I can’t remember them right now I shall go bug Karen and ask her if she remembers later.

After that there was this very fun session called Marketplace and I’ll leave it to your imagination to figure out what we did. (I had to do very stupid things to entertain people to earn….newspaper.)

Then after lunch (during lunch some of you us people actually went up to her and took pics)  we had Miss Chinese Cosmos winner, Miss Carrie Lee! Ya lah I’ll be honest here, I expected it to be extremely boring. What you gonna teach us? Catwalking (yeah, she did that too)? But it was…..really nice and inspiring hearing about her story and background, she’s a pretty good speaker (her energy was big enough to keep me awake the whole time okay). She also has a lovely singing voice, and a brilliant smile….and…..

We asked her to sing,

she did. (You Raise Me Up)

We asked her to catwalk…….

She did. and not only that, she asked for volunteers from each group.

YES, IT WAS FUN EMBARRASSING MYSELF AND ACTING FABULOUS.

Reasons why I would never be a catwalk model. (BESIDES BEING SHORT)

Reasons why I would never be a catwalk model.
(BESIDES BEING SHORT)

The guys win at being fab though, hands down.

Then we had another teabreak and it was my turn to welcome our speaker and I did a really crappy job and I spaced out so um yeah. I’ll tell you something funny that happened after Miss Carrie’s session though, before we went for tea I went up to our facilitator and asked her how I should address Mr. Sunil when I welcome him. T (our faci) just turned to the guy next to her aaaand, “Why don’t you ask him?”. He insists we call him Sunil but I just enjoy adding a Mr/Ms in front of things.

Aaaand then we had jungle trekking. In which I had to drag my lazy ass up a hill for 2 hours. Thankfully I had my darling angel Emylee with me, she actually stayed by my side and helped me up and she was just precious. Because of her I was singing “You Raise Me Up” the whole time. Well, occasionally. And my shoes are ruined. They need to be cleaned. But it’s nice to know they finally accomplished what they were made to do.

WE DID IT.

WE DID IT.

DAY THREE.

We had community work. “Community work”. Just hearing it used to scare me. Agh. So we went to an old folks’ home/village and each group had to clean out a house. In about 2 hours. The conditions in those houses were disgusting. And I’m not just saying that, it was really filthy. Ours wasn’t so bad, but I really feel bad for a few other groups….(sorry lah obviously you guys weren’t significant enough because i can’t remember which groups you were ohohoho~ jks you know who you are.)

The lady who lived there absolutely adored dust, and spiders. Not  teensy weensy Charlotte’s web spiders though, huge ass creepy things that HAVE NO FEAR. And the whole place was damp and stank. *Spoilt Princess Mode: activated.* Again, I’ll confess and say I don’t think I really helped THAT much….but the house got cleaned and we accomplished that AS A TEAM so I guess I did. mwahahaha.

Call me mean, but I’m really glad I didn’t get the task of “entertaining” the makcik, because I have no people skills and I would probably have given her an emotional breakdown and greatly offended her.

Did I mention the spoilt/stale food? No? Well now I have.

After blahblahblah we had more outdoor activities! Flying Fox, Tightrope walking, Canoeing/Kayaking, and Obstacle-course-ing. I got over so many fears that afternoon.

Yes, I was wearing shorts.

Yes, I was wearing shorts.

Flying Fox? I got over my fear (ACTUALLY IT’S MY MOM’S FEAR) of like….the harness snapping and falling to my death into the lake and umm getting eaten by crocodiles. yeah.

*cheesy grin*

*cheesy grin*

Tightrope walking? I’m not really scared of heights, per say. I’m just very bad at balancing. And having short legs didn’t make it easier because I had to “slide” two times more than a person of average height. And I SWEAR someone was shaking the 2nd rope (the one where you had to hold ropes on each side). But at least I got it over and done with.

Talent night! We did a skit where this commander gets strange cravings for durians, so he sends his idiotic team on a quest to search for them. The team encounters a ghost (yours truly) and get lost/knocked out/unconscious so the commander sends another team, and they pretty much ask the ghost why she won’t share her durians. Apparently the ghost has a fetish for muscles (cough cough) and so she was quite content once she got to “touch” a few.   Turns out that the commander bumped into this same ghost a long time ago, and she also liked biceps back then. So in the end everyone is happy. The end.

And the moral of that is, birds of a feather flock together.

Aha I’ll tell you another little thing though, our team thought we had to create a skit based on the keywords we were given/emailed (leadership, peace, and so on). And so we tried pretty hard to incorparate that into our play. And even though we didn’t win, I learned a lot through the whole process of stressing yourself out.  being a team and working together.

SO....MANLY!

SO….MANLY!

Rehearsing. (i'm holding my durian hehe)

Rehearsing. (i’m holding my durian hehe)

Karen’s group (Ravens, me thinks) was really amazing! My giraffe can ACT! :’D

After Talent Night…there was to be a party. No one believed it, either that or they valued sleep over celebrating their last night there. Heh.

Yes, there was a party. To those of you who were there, you were probably fantastic baby dancers. ;D (and you probably had a great time laughing at me).

To those of you who decided to snooze, you lose. HOW COULD YOU MISS OUT ON SO MUCH FUN. HOW.  JUST TO GET AN EXTRA FEW HOURS OF SLEEP. PFFT.

I can dance. Or I enjoy dancing. I don’t know, really. I think I was pretty bad but it was FUN. Pics are up but I shall not share them as a) there are none of me and b) well, i’m in a few, half my face here, an arm and head there….

DAY FOUR.

The last day was really quite sad. 😦

Nice blue certs.

There were also a few sessions by the speakers (I’M LOOKIN’ AT YOU MR. SUNIL) about appreciating our parents that made me tear up. No, nothing could possibly convince me to share my….GO AWAY WHY ARE YOU EVEN READING THIS.

We’re all fb friends and we have a group now, and hopefully we’ll have more meet-ups in the future, like the one we had yesterday. (tuesday)

With Farella, Charmiane (that’s how it’s spelled yes), Karen, and Aslam.

ADJFOISEJOICJEPOAIJRPOIEWJFPIOAJIOXMCOIPJRAWOIEJRPOIWEJRE4983UQ09

ok. done. i’ve met so many interesting people since last years’ so i’m looking forward to it again. more enthusiastic about cf than i am about xmas bc idk once you reach a certain age people decide you’re an ungrateful spoilt brat (cough cough) and stop getting you presents. which makes me really sad. yeah well people refuse to get me things i really want (boat/yacht, use-able camera (so i can retire this shitty one ASAP! and preferably a new computer screen because mine is big and white and at least 16 years old. oh  gosh that sounded wrong.)

I realize I don’t really get stuff at the booths….partly because by the end of the day i’m broke…and….i really wouldn’t know where to put stuff…like…figurines…or giant posters…someday~ when i have more space~ but creating space requires clearing junk~ so no.

OH YES YES.

A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS FEELING REALLY DOWN SO HARU SENT ME THIS REALLY AWESOME COVER OF PONPONPON AND I’VE GOTTEN ADDICTED TO THE UTAITE (Nano) EVER SINCE.

her songs really nice leh.

listened to her whole album d.

fab fab fabu.

her cover of JBF is one of the most full of emotion ones i’ve ever heard. yeah she’s great.

for some reason…kanzentaicell’s voice really annoys me right now..? TOO MUCH TSUKEMA TSUKERU. GO AWAY.

kouhei’s also quite epic.

*is going through an over-obsessing-over-utaites phase)

i can’t be bothered to edit or anything.

OH…AND ANOTHER THING:

I got my mum and Emily the Strange novel from BBW for xmas, and even though she really likes it she says it reminds her of..me? so i started reading it and by gah Emily is the most amazing…character…EVER. glossy pages too~

AND MY KITTEN’S SO BIG NOW OMG IT’S SO CUTE AND HYPER AAAH I LOVE IT SO MUCH THOUGH.  ITS TAIL IS…CURLY? KNOTTED? BUT YEAH AND IT’S SLIGHTLY BROWNER NOW COMPARED TO LAST TIME WHEN IT WAS A DULL GREYISH COLOR.

Aha! I’m back in Penang till the 17th or so? Because Karen’s dad invited me for some leadership camp (err, also to help you deal with work-related stress, ahem.) in the middle of nowhere, Pahang. It’s all paid for/free and Karen will be there so it sounds FUN. Hehe. No, not being sarcastic. I genuinely enjoy camps, I’m sure there’ll be at least ONE fun/interesting thing there.

I just got back from KL a few hours back, took the stupid purple bus at 3pm. 74 bucks seriously wtf. *kicks bus people’s shins* RIPOFF ARTISTS! (FHIF reference) But my uncle paid for it so yeah. Was supposed to take the later (and cheaper) bus at 4, but that one full oredi, so what to do lor.  They don’t serve sandwiches anymore, they give you this really disgusting  cream filled bun with raisins. Thing is, I really, really love cream buns. Even though I KNOW I’ll feel verryyy sick afterwards, I’ll still scoff the damn thing. I felt so bad the rest of the trip. At least you get unlimited cups of very weak tea, kept bugging stewardess to get me more, hehe. My uncle bumped (quite literally) into his friends when we got out of the car, they were like, “Heyyy Daryll, long time no see!” and he was probs like, ” Heyyyy pregnant laaydehh, OP OP OP.”. Sorry, I’m being veli rude again. *slaps self* But yeah they sat riight behind me, I sat with this nice lady who had very nice eyelashes (she was asleep half the trip, when she wasn’t making calls).

Okok enough rambling and delaying, you stalkers probably wanna know what the title means, eh?

LOLOL NOPE. NOT TELLING.

So anyways, before I get to the point, I hate the new youtube layout. It was fine before. Perfect, really. DON’T GOOO CHANGIN, TO TRY AND PELASE MEEH.

Tumblr changed too.

And WordPress.

29th Nov. – 2nd Dec.

Left Penang in the afternoonish, picked grandma up, vaguely remember being extremely cranky. Was asleep the whole drive there, woke up starving, listened to random shit I consider music on my mp3 player till the battery died.

Oh, I found my mum’s old mp3 player, twas an xmas pressie from dear uncle Daryll.

Here’s a pic. Mine’s black.

imgCreative Zen Nano Plus1

OKAY SO I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO INSERT PICTURES INTO MY POSTS. DARN NEW WORDPRESS Y U CHANGE SO MUCCHH.

Only thing is it runs on AAA batteries, not very eco-friendly. And has like 1GB of memory. Not a lot leh.

Reached my uncle’s condo, realized we left my boots in the other car (in PENANG), cried, went upstairs, had iranian food, conked out.

We had a seminar the next day, for 3 days straight. 12 hours a day, at Mines’ Convention Center. So exhausting, yet so fun. Besides the having to wheel my grandma around part (yes yes, being a very spoilt selfish brat over here), it was an amazing experience. I’ll blog about that in another post.

Okaayyy , so after the seminar ended on sunday, I slept the whole of monday. I was awakened by my uncle’s loud voice around dinnertime (methinks he was yelling about the lights again, “YOU THINK MY HOUSE IS A BLOODY XMAS TREE IS IT, Y U TURN ON SO MANY LIGHTS FOR WHAT.”). Was feeling groggy, dragged self out of bed, had like….my uncle’s faymoose holiao burgers. they sucked tapioca.

Toosdaye.

I MET UP WITH FRIENDS OMFG. Finally got to meet Haru again (met her at the gingerbread camp thing last year), Karen and Adrian (d’aww <3) were there too, and Aqualeaf and Shun bby. Watched Rise of the Guardians together, and it was actually pretty disappointing. At least I had a nice person to talk to during the movie (so rude,  i know.) but  Jack Frost is such a cutie hehe. ❤ ❤ ❤ Then we walked all over looking for lunch (okay lah that one partly my fault because I was being a wee bit fussy) and finally settled on the food court and had pan mee. Yes, I took ages, shuddap larh u.

Also we tried out one of those “How passionate are you?” machines and SOMEONE’s a dead fish. didn’t need a machine to tell him that. the things he wears i swear like seriously gah

Then we went back to the arcade. I detest arcades because I suck at everything there, and  I can never win anything from the claw machines unless I spend hundreds on tokens (YES I AM JUST THAT BAD). Everyone else was having a fab time though, good for them. (HAPPY SYNTHESIZER PLS GET OUT OF ME HEAD OKIE THANK)

Then Karen and I decided to watch Perks by ourselves (EVERYONE ELSE WAS TOO BUSY PLAYING MaiMai) AND IT WAS SO  AMAZING I REALLY CAN’T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE IT. DEFO  ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF 2012, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T GET A CHANCE TO READ THE BOOK. I ALMOST CRIED.

By the time the movie ended everyone had left (NOW THE PARTY DON’T START TILL I WALK INNN). Everyone except Adrian, because he has all the time in the world to wait for us. We walked around, they got some disgusting cream puffs, we sat at MPH reading “How to make out in Arabic/ Chinese”, I got a wig cap, went to look at cds, uncle came, adrian had to leave, went for dinner….

My beloved Giraffe really does love steak. I also never ever want to go to Tony Romas’ ever again, the portions are HUGE. Meh, but everyone else enjoyed their dinner. And during dinner Karen’s mum called and told us that MY mum wasn’t feeling well and wanted cream puffs. Err, yes, my mother gets strange cravings when she’s down with food poisoning. Got mum’s stuff, dropped Karen off at Mcds, she went back to PD, got home, gave mum her….cure for food poisoning (cream puffs, ORS, and panadols) and she felt better the next day. Good enough to drive back to Penang. Left me all alone. Waah.

So wednesday was pretty much another rest day, on thursday Karen picked me up again to hang out and do some shoppingggg (*said in extremely girly voice*). There were a few complications because I thought SHE was staying over and  SHE thought I was going to PD. huh. so anyways it was agreed I stay at her place for the night (she also didn’t bring the case for her contacts and sleeping them can prove to be DEADLY. :O) and off we went~ First stop was at…Ikea? Her dad dropped us off and went for his meetings. LUNCH!!! Oh goodness me, my dear pet apparently does not delight in consuming meatballs (which is sad because I love them to bits). She was on a liquid diet apparently, one which consists of soup, juice, and a bowl of…..steamed broccoli with some suspicious looking white sauce poured on it (poor bby isn’t bulimic, she’s just bulimist.). Chit-chatted during lunch, complained about how slow I was eating, the usual. Then we went into random salons and asked how much would it cost if she wanted to ombre her hair. They didn’t do it there, so she decided to stick with the salon she already had an appointment with. Walked around some more looking at overpriced clothes, went to Daiso, got stockings, la-di-da~~~

Oh and when we went to Borders Karen made me read 50 Shades of Grey with her. It’s quite possibly the worst book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read Twilight. It’s just really, really, badly written okay. (PS: she’s in love with Christian Grey)

Then we went over to the Ikano place or whatever and went to Sasa and got face masks (Karen’s didn’t really work, mine made me feel really refreshed and my face….feels so smooth wan. XD) and nail polish~ Then we went to some random shop that sold party stuff and special effects makeup and Karen bought fake blood capsules! Time to go to the salon for Karen’s ombre-ing~

The place was in Taman Segar (idk I’m just repeating what Karen just told me over chat lol) and she found it through the owner’s daughter’s blog. And……..

IT’S NOT CALLED OMBRE-ING LAH DUMMY,  TOLD YOU IT’S CALLED DIP-DYEING, DOWAN LISTEN ME, THEN SOMEMORE LOOK CONFUSED WHEN OMBRES ARE DULL COLORS AND YOU WAN PURPUR.

hahahahhahahha yes I enjoy teasing her okay. told her to do proper research, she dowan.

so the whole process took about 3 hours and frankly I wasn’t too keen on doing it or getting highlights because I’ve grown past my 7th grade emo phase. Karen’s a late bloomer. hehehehe. But I still really love seeing red hair on people, though it’d look horrid on me. :(( *crey crey*

I was bored to tears. One can only read so many magazines about how to spice up your love life. But Giraffe was enjoying every moment of it, I’m glad she was, I was dying. Was texting random people so that entertained me for a bit. When it was FINALLY done it looked sooo fab, I’m just too much of a lazy hippo to bother her for a picture.

We had some pao, then walked to Leisure Mall and checked some stuff out there. Took some xmas-ey pictures (in which Karen looks so gorgeous but of course she had to photoshop her nose smaller) and I looked like a fat hippo who’s been eating like, well, an elephant. Ah well, at least we got xmas  pics.

Browsed through random stuff at Popular, smirked at random copies of 50 Shades of Grey, Karen’s mum called, went down to Oldtown for dinner…….can’t really remember the rest, but there is this one bit;

KAREN REALLY DIDN’T WANT TO GO. BUT I DRAGGED HER INTO A SPEEDY VIDEO STORE, AND GUESS WHAT WAS ON SALE?

ANIME.

NOT JUST ANY OLD RANDOM ANIME DVDS, STUFF THAT I’VE WANTED TO GET FOR A LONG TIME, AND GUESS WHAT I FINALLY GOT?

CODE GEASS. SEASONS 1 AND 2. 50 BUCKS EACH, AND PRETTY COVERS OMG. SO. HAPPY.

Went to some restaurant nearby and had porridge and dishes for supper, really tired, got home, went online for a bit, watched a bit of Code Geese….

Karen: wow….I never imagined Lelouch Lamperouge could sound so good….in Japanese…

Me: ehehhehehe see, see. toldja.

Got to sleep for a few hours before BBW, read about it here.

Had lunch, went grocery shopping, Karen hates root beer, dropped me at uncle’s place…..

Tried to get some sleep, but I had to go onlineeee.

Went for Ciel Harem’s picnic/get-together thing, was fun, sun so hot, cyberjaya really is in the middle of nowhere, blah blah can’t remember.

And now I’m back. For now.

Hehe harrooo~~~

This is just a short post about my time at Big Bad Wolf (biggest book sale in the WORLD apparently), and err, random stoof.

I HAD SUCH AN AMAZING TIME SPENDING ALL MY MONEY HAHAHAHHAHA.  It was fantastic. I completed my Alex Rider collection (Ark Angel, Crocodile Tears, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike. they were all rm8.) Got the first book in the Infernal Devices series, Clockwork Angel, also rm8. Department 19, been wanting to get that for some time now. Two Darren Shan books (The Thin Executioner and Birth of a Killer). And a copy of Mates, Dates, it was a 3 in 1 thingy, yes, I don’t usually read fluffy romance, but Karen made me and it’s not half bad. And I got my mum an Emelie the Strange hardcover illustrated novel that was really pretty for xmas! Haha she really likes Emelie because she’s eccentric and loves cats.  All of them were 8 bucks. Mmmmfff so worth it.

And I got the first 2 volumes of Gakuen Alice and some random manga called Dazzle for rm3 each. I actually really hate reading manga online, it just doesn’t feel the same.

And since I’m so spontaneous and all I decided to get Around the World in 80 Days for 6 ringgit. Because I’ve always wanted to read it, and after reading 20,000 leagues under the sea Jules Verne seems like a really good author. AND I ALSO WANTED TO GET PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, BUT IDK WHY I DIDN’T. BOOHOO.

That’s all I guess! I’ll earn all that money back, every single sen was worth it. They didn’t really have that many titles this year, and only ONE manga table, apparently last year was awesomer.

hoyeh and karen woke me up at some ungodly hour (5.45 ish. ugh.) because we had to get there early so there wouldn’t be a jam and blah blah blah. We were supposed to camp over at Mines but idk why we didn’t. Silly Karen didn’t take my advice and wore a tank top. And did not bring a jacket. And the only reason I knew how cold it was was because the week before that we had a seminar in that same hall. They removed the carpet. And uncovered the back part of the room (it was closed off with a black curtain for the seminar).

That’s it! I shall get back to blogging about my week  in KL, in another post.

Update: I’m so glad I got Clockwork Angel (TFD) because it’s surprisingly good, better than TMI to me. I’ve finished more than half the book in a day. Gahhh awesomeness.

Also finished Mates, Dates. Now I want to complete THAT series.

Must. Stop. Collecting. Books.
